Camelot Entertainment Group has picked up worldwide distribution rights to the upcoming family film Wiener Dog Nationals that is set to begin filming in 2010.

Fledgling Universal City-based subsidiary Camelot Distribution Group will handle rights and Camelot chairman Robert Atwell and president of distribution Jamie Thompson will serve as executive producers on the project.

The move expands Camelot’s involvement after it initially boarded as producer alongside Two Boys Productions and Desert Wind Entertainment. It also marks Camelot’s first foray into the family genre.

LA-based Two Boys Productions CEO Patricia Gillum is producing the story, based on a script by Kevan Peterson about the friendship between a young boy and the puppy his father buys him following the death of his mother. The family enters the dog into a competition and adventure ensues.

“This movie is the ideal project for our company as we enter the global family film market place,” Atwell said. “We are excited to be working with Patricia Gillum. Wiener Dog Nationals has all the hallmarks of a film that will appeal to a wide audience globally.”

Camelot Distribution Group has scheduled an autumn 2010 release for the mercenary action thriller The Fallen starring Peter Stormare. Rob Walker will direct from a screenplay by Erik Anderson with Grant Cramer and Anderson serving as producers.
