Franck Khalfoun’s thriller is a remake of William Lustig’s 1980 slasher film of the same title and is based on a screenplay by Alex Aja and Gregory Levasseur about a repressed mannequin store owner with homicidal urges.

Elijah Wood stars and Thomas Langmann, Aja, Levasseur, and Lustig produced Maniac and Antoine de Cazotte, Daniel Delume, Andrew W Garroni, Pavlina Hatoupis and Alix Taylor served as executive producers.

Sundance Selects/IFC Films svp of acquisitions and productions Arianna Bocco and director of acquisitions and productions and Jeff Deutchman brokered the deal with Carole Baraton of Wild Bunch.

  • Oscilloscope Laboratories has taken North American rights to Todd Berger’s comedy It’s A Disaster following its summer premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival. O-scope plans to take the film to festivals throughout autumn and has set an early 2013 theatrical and digital release. Julia Stiles, David Cross, America Ferrera are among the cast.
