Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 has already amassed $49.3m heading into the weekend.

Warner Bros reported a  $25m North American haul from 3,700 sites. Overseas, the fantasy adventure took $24.3m from 20 territories including some Wednesday launches and previews.

The studio announced select territory highlights:

  • Germany: $5.4m (€3.9m) and 515,000 admissions from 1,450 screens nationwide including Wednesday previews;
  • Australia: $3.9m (A$4m) and 334,000 admissions from 610 screens nationwide including Wednesday previews; and
  • Mexico: $2m (Ps 24.4m) and 531,000 admissions from opening day on 1,506 screens nationwide.

Reports claim the domestic midnight launch ranks as the third highest behind the last two Twilight releases. Eclipse made $30m and New Moon grossed $26.3m.
