Dogwoof acquires UK rights to Steve James' The Interrupters

Dogwoof has acquired UK theatrical and home entertainment rights to Steve James’ The Interrupters, which premiered in Sundance. The doc is abut former gang members in Chicago who try to prevent violent situations as they happen. Author Alex Koltowitz produced. The deal was negotiated by Dogwoof’s Andy Whittaker and Executive Producer Teddy Leifer, of UK-based RISE Films (which made the film with James’ Kartemquin Films.

Dogwoof plans an autumn theatrical launch in the UK, and the BBC will broadcast subsequently.”We are thrilled to be working with Andy and the team at Dogwoof on the release of The Interrupters”, said co-proiducer and RISE films Managing Director, Teddy Leifer. “They are an excellent match for this film and absolutely committed to its success”. Dogwoof’s Whitaker said James, best known for Hoop Dreams, was “one of the best directors in the business.”
