UK distributor picks up IDFA and Sundance winning documentary.
UK documentary specialist Dogwoof has acquired Leonard Retel Helmrich’s Sundance and IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival Rotterdam) winning documentary Position Among the Stars from Films Transit.
The film is the concluding part of Helmrich’s trilogy on Indonesia, which follows a Christian-Islamic family.
The deal includes director Helmrich’s two previous films - Shape of The Moon and The Eye of The Day, which Dogwoof will release on a special edition trilogy DVD.
Oli Harbottle, Head of Distribution, Dogwoof, said: “Position Among The Stars is a great addition to Dogwoof’s catalogue – we are delighted to be able to offer this stunning documentary along with the previous two titles in Leonard Retel Helmrich’s trilogy to UK audiences.”
Position Among The Stars picked up this year’s Sundance World Cinema Special Jury Prize for Documentary Film and the 2010 VPRO IDFA Award for Best Feature-Length Documentary and the Dioraphte IDFA Award for Dutch Documentary at IDFA.
