E1 Entertainment US has acquired North American rights to Helicon Arts Cooperative’s sci-fi film noir Yesterday Was A Lie by writer-director James Kerwin.
The film has played extensively on the festival circuit and will open in theaters on December 11 followed by a DVD release in March 2010.
“With their brand of both commercial and arthouse content, E1 is the perfect choice to distribute Yesterday Was A Lie,” producer Chase Masterson said.
“The film has been embraced by festival movie-goers around the world, and this distribution pact stands to help increase the film’s popularity, as well as to inspire artists in the spirit of truly independent cinema.”
Yesterday Was A Lie is shot in black-and-white and centres on a girl who tracks down a reclusive genius and finds herself in a world of intrigue and cosmological secrets.
Kipleigh Brown, John Newton, Mik Scriba, Peter Mayhew and Masterson star. The film features the voice of radio personality Robert Siegel.
