The Event Cinema Association (ECA) will host the first Event Cinema Awards at their Networking Event in London on Oct 15.

Two types of awards will be handed out: the box office awards recognising theatrical admissions of 100,000 (Bronze), 250,000 (Silver) and 500,000 (Gold); also there will be Awards of Excellence, three for exhibitors working with alternative content, and three for content makers.

Members of the ECA have submitted nominations.

ECA chair Melissa Keeping said: “The ECA board believes that the more information and recognition we can provide to our burgeoning sector the more we can assist growth. We hope that these awards will generate industry and public interest, and also recognise those individuals helping to make event cinema the fastest growing element of the exhibition industry.”

Since its inception 12 months ago the ECA has grown to include 35+ members from 15 territories worldwide.
