The Film Sales Company has acquired worldwide sales rights to the new documentary film Hey Boo: Harper LeeAnd To Kill A Mockingbird.

Mary Murphy directed and produced the film, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of To Kill A Mockingbird’s publication and explores the relationship between Scout’s fictional experiences and Harper Lee’s life.

The film is in post-production and examines Lee’s relationship with her father, as well as Truman Capote and others on whom the characters in the small Alabama town were based.

It also sheds light on why the author never wrote another book and the reasons behind her increasing reluctance to speak to the press.

Harper Collins is planning a year-long series of events to celebrate the anniversary of the first publication of the novel.
