Fortissimo Films has acquired all rights outside of North America to Matthew Miele’s feature documentary Scatter My Ashes At Bergdorf’s.

The film is about the legendary New York store. Fashion icons such as Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Michael Kors and Christian Louboutin are interviewed, as are longtime employees such as fashion director Linda Fargo and members of the Goodman family.

The deal was brokered by Bob Berney, CEO of Berney Films and Fortissimo’s Winnie Lau, evp of Sales and acquisitions.

Fortissimo will start sales at AFM and the film is expected to launch “at a major festival early next year.”

Winnie Lau said, “We are delighted to be working with Bergdorf Goodman and Matthew Miele on this compelling documentary. Scatter My Ashes At Bergdorf’s provides unprecedented insight, garnered through Matthew’s access to some of fashion’s luminaries, into one of the most iconic stores in the world, and we know that this entertaining and insightful film will appeal not only to fashion lovers but to a wide audience across the world.”

The store was founded by master tailors Edwin Goodman and Herman Bergdorf in 1901.
