Vincent Gallo stars in Davide Manuli’s postmodern Western.
Rome-based Intramovies will handle international sales for Davide Manuli’s second feature The Legend of Kaspar Hauser.
The film will have its world premiere in Rotterdam (Jan 25-Feb 5).
Silvia Calderoni stars as Hauser and Vincent Gallo has a double role as “the pusher” and “the sheriff.” The cast also includes Claudia Gerini and Fabrizio Gifuni.
The film is described as a postmodern Western also drawing on the true story of a mysterious German boy who claimed to be the prince of the house of Baden.
The Legend of Kaspar Hauser shot in Sardinia.
“I engaged with the facts as they really happened”, says Manuli of his working method. “I took all the documentation and made it mine, and then I threw it away trying to find the connecting thread between my story and what really happened.”
Manuli’s debut film was Beket, which won a critics prize in Locarno 2008.
