Lorber Films has picked up all US rights to Jim McBride’s 1973 satire on cinema verite, David Holzman’s Diary.

The film will be presented in collaboration with the Stranger than Fictions Docs film series at a one-night only screening of at the IFC Center in New York on March 16.

Kino Lorber co-president Richard Lorber negotiated the deal with McBride and the film’s star L M Kit Carson and said, “This film is timely right now because it is part of the very DNA of the YouTube generation. Jim McBride was the first to bring the immediacy and spontaneity.”

In 1991, David Holzman’s Diary became one of the first films to be selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library Of Congress.
