Magnet Releasing has acquired worldwide rights excluding Europe to Andre Ovredal’s The Troll Hunter.

The vérité style production follows Norwegian film students on the trails of trolls after they learn the government has covered up the creatures’ existence.

“The interest in The Troll Hunter from around the world has been overwhelming,” John M Jacobsen, who produced with Sveinung Golimo, said.

Magnet senior vice-president Tom Quinn negotiated the deal with Jacobsen and the company is eyeing a 2011 theatrical release.
