Magnet Releasing has taken US rights to Hobo With A Shotgun ahead of its world premiere in Sundance’s Park City At Midnight section.
The distributor did the deal with TF1 International and plans a 2011 release. Jason Eisener’s exploitation film stars Rutger Hauer as a vigilante loner who cleans up a lawless town.
Magnet said the concept of the film originated from the Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse project. Eisener won a SXSW contest to create an original trailer that was included in the Grindhouse Blu-Ray special edition and the Canadian theatrical release.
Magnet previously acquired distribution rights to Sundance 2011 entries I Saw The Devil and The Troll Hunter.
