Magnolia plans an Ultra VoD release on Aug 26 followed by theatrical roll-out on Sept 30 for Eli Craig’s film, whose roster of honours includes the Midnight Audience Award at SXSW, the best director award at Fantaspoa and the best motion picture award at Sitges.
Svp Tom Quinn negotiated the deal with executive producer Thomas Augsberger of Eden Rock Media. Deepak Nayar produced. Nicolas Chartier’s Voltage Pictures handled international sales on the film.
- In other, unrelated, deals, The Cinema Guild has picked up US rights from Finecut to Hong Sangsoo’s South Korean film The Day He Arrives; MPI Media Group has taken North American rights from Argentina’s Pampa to the SXSW horror hit Cold Sweat; and Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired US rights to Ami Horowitz and Matthew Groff’s United Nations documentary entitled UN Me. Open Road Films announced today  that it will release its first major acquisition, the Jason Statham-Clive Owen thriller The Killer Elite, in the US on Sept 23.
