Open Road has acquired US rights to The Green Inferno, Eli Roth’s cannibal thriller that premiered in Toronto last weekend.

The distributor negotiated the deal with US representative CAA. Worldview Entertainment financed the horror film and Exclusive Media handles international sales. Earlier in the festival Worldview and Roth announced they were planning a sequel, Beyond The Green Inferno.

IFC Midnight has picked up North American rights from XYZ Films to Zack Parker’s genre title Proxy, about a pregnant woman who loses her baby following a violent assault and joins a support group.

Proxy premiered in Toronto’s Vanguard section and stars Alexia Rasmussen, Alexa Havins, Kristina Klebe and Joe Swanberg.

Earlier in the week reports emerged that A24 was in the final stages of acquiring US rights to Under The Skin starring Scarlett Johansson.

Jonathan Glazer directed the experimental sci-fi about an alien sexual predator who moves through Scotland seeking prey. CAA and WME Global represent US rights and FilmNation international sales.

The ambitious New York-based A24 was the first to acquire a Toronto film on site when it paid $1.25m for North American rights to Locke on Friday (September 6).
