Two significant alliances in the specialty sector were announced on Monday [29]. Rialto Pictures secured US first-run rights to five titles from StudioCanal while Kino Lorber struck a deal to release the Artsploitation Films slate.

The five StudioCanal films will go out under Rialto’s new Rialto Premieres label, kicking off with Clément Michel’s hit rom-com The Stroller Strategy [pictured] starring Raphaël Personnaz and Charlotte Le Bon at New York’s Angelika Film Center on Jun 14.

The deal includes Hotel Normandy starring Eric Elmosnino and Helena Noguerra and Demi-Soeur directed by and starring Josiane Balasko.

Rialto was established 15 years ago. Re-releases set for this year include Jean-Luc Godard’s Le Petit Soldat, Jean-Pierre Melville’s final film Un Flic starring Alain Delon and Catherine Deneuve, Joseph Losey’s The Servant written by Harold Pinter, and Claude Autant-Lara’s A Pig Across Paris (La Traversée de Paris).

In June Rialto will tour The Hitchcock 9, a series of Alfred Hitchcock’s nine surviving silent films, all of which have been restored by the British Film Institute.

The first title to go under the Artsploitation Films pact with Kino Lorber will be Maja Miloš’ portrait of contemporary Serbian youth Clip starring Isidora Simijonovic on Jun 11.
