The studio has moved in on English-speaking territories including North America, the UK and Australia as UTA sells its 13th title from Sundance.

Zal Batmanglij directed Sound Of My Voice from a screenplay he co-wrote with Brit Marling, who also stars. Arguably the discovery of the festival, Marling also co-wrote and starred in Another Earth.

Hans Ritter, Shelley Surpin and Marling produced the story of a young couple in Los Angeles that attempts to infiltrate a cult and expose its leader as a charlatan.

Fox Searchlight’s svp of business affairs Megan O’Brien, evp of worldwide acquisitions Tony Safford and vp of acquisitions Ray Strache brokered the deal with Surpin of Surpin & Mayersohn, David Flynn and Rena Ronson of UTA’s independent film group, CAA and Danielle Robinson of Alan Siegel Entertainment on behalf of the filmmakers.

UTA represented rights to the film and represents the director. CAA represents Marling.
