Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group (SPWAG) has licensed US and Canadian DVD rights to the vampire action-comedy Transylmania.

The company plans an April 27 release on the tale of exchange programme students at a castle in Transylvania where an ancient vampire king returns to claim his ancestral home. Patrick Cavanaugh, James DeBello and Jennifer Lyons are among the cast.

David & Scott Hillenbrand of Hill & Brand Entertainment (HBE) directed and produced from a screenplay by Patrick Casey and Joshua Miller.

SPWAG senior executive vice-president and general manager Adrian Alperovich and counsel, legal affairs Kian Ghaffari brokered the deal for Sony Home Entertainment with HBE president of marketing and distribution Steve Rockabrand, David and Scott Hillenbrand, and Kim Swartz of Mitchell, Silberberg and Knupp.

Hill & Brand Entertainment’s features include National Lampoon Presents Dorm Daze and Dorm Daze 2.

The Hillenbrands previously worked with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment president David Bishop when he was president of MGM Home Entertainment and oversaw the release of National Lampoon Presents Dorm Daze.

Voltage Pictures commenced international sales at the EFM last month.
