The Weinstein Company has confirmed its preemptive acquisition of US rights to Sarah’s Keys starring Kristin Scott Thomas.

Gilles Paquet-Brenner directed the film based on Paquet-Brenner and Serge Joncour’s adapted screenplay of Tatiana De Rosnay’s bestseller.

Sarah’s Keys tells of an investigative reporter who uncovers a story about a French family during the second world war who hid their youngest son in a cupboard during a roundup of Jewish families.

“When Gilles and I first met with Harvey in Paris about Sarah’s Key, we knew immediately that we shared the same passion and emotion about Tatiana’s book, and that a film had to be made,” producer Stephane Marsil said.

Peter Lawson and Michal Steinberg from The Weinstein Company brokered the deal with Gregoire Melin from Kinology.
