The distributor has acquired all North American rights to the upcoming horror Tormented from Fortissimo Films in a preemptive swoop before the film’s Venice world premiere and has also taken The Shock Labyrinth.

Both 3D films were directed by Takashi Shimizu, whose earlier creations include The Grudge (Juon) films.

Tormented will debut on the Lido in the Midnight strand before travelling to Sitges in October. The film centres on a boy who develops a friendship with a toy rabbit as his family appears unravel around him.

The Shock Labyrinth follows the bizarre events that ensue when a group of youngsters rediscover their friend who went missing at an amusement park a decade earlier.
