Zeitgeist Films has acquired US rights to Margarethe von Trotta’s Vision starring Barbara Sukowa that screened on April 21 as the opening night film of the Kino! 2010: New Cinema From Germany series.
Sukowa plays the 12th century Benedictine abbess Hildegard von Bingen, a Christian philosopher, herbalist and visionary who has emerged from the shadows of history as an extraordinary agent of faith and change.
Von Trotta’s films include Marianne And Julianne, Rosa Luxembourg and Rosenstrasse.
Zeitgeist plans an October release after co-president Nancy Gerstman brokered the deal with Hengameh Panahi of Celluloid Dreams.
