The Last King Of Scotland, Babel and Volver are among the line-up at the inauguralDominican Republic Global Film Festival, which runs from Nov 8-12.

The roster includes Water, Cronica De Una Fuga, An InconvenientTruth, Mad Hot Ballroom,and The Lost City.

The festival whose focus is global issues and personal stories, isheld under the auspices of the Dominican Republic President Leonel Fernandez'charitable foundation, FUNGLODE(The Foundation For Global Democracy And Development).

"The Global Film Festival will present an eclectic program ofdramatic and documentary films with a broad range of esthetic treatment and pointof view," Nicole Guillemet, who co-launched the festival with FUNGLODEexecutive director Natasha Despotovic, said.

"The mission of the festival is both to entertain and toshowcase films with a conscience: films which enhance awareness of social problemsand promote constructive, democratic change - or a change in the way oneviews the word and lives one's life."

Guillemet worked at the Sundance Institute for more than 15 yearsand for the last four years she served as director of the Miami InternationalFilm Festival.
