Dori Begley has joined Magnolia Pictures' New York office in the newly created role of director of acquisitions and will report to head of acquisitions Tom Quinn.

Begley recently served as associate programmer at the Tribeca Film Festival. Prior to that she worked from 1998-2006 in various capacities at Sony Pictures Entertainment, including manager of acquisitions of Sony Pictures Classics (SPC) from 2000-2006.

During her tenure at SPC she worked on such titles as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Fog Of War, Cache, and Volver.

'I'm very excited to bring Dori on board,' Quinn said. 'I've known her for some time and have always wanted to work with her in some capacity.

'She brings a breadth of experience and talent which will enable us to be a more proactive buyer as we continue to grow.'

Magnolia Pictures recently released Bong Joon-ho's horror tale The Host and Katherine Dieckmann's 1970s small-town East Coast drama Diggers.
