Warner Bros' The Dukes Of Hazzard kicked the hides of the competition overthe weekend as the TV adaptation opened on an estimated $30.6m.

Overall the top 12 titles grossed $102.5m, up 5% against the sameweekend last year.

Starring Seann William Scott, Johnny Knoxville and JessicaSimpson, The Dukes Of Hazzard follows two brothers as they try to stop a politician turninglocal land into a mine. It opened to generally poor reviews but averaged $8,077on 3,785 screens.

New Line's comedy The Wedding Crashers showed remarkable staying power as itfell one place to second in its fourth weekend on $16.5m for a superb $144.1mrunning total.

WarnerBros' Charlie And The Chocolate Factory fell one to third on $10.6m for $169 in its fourth weekend, while BuenaVista's family picture Sky High alsodropped one place to fourth for $32.1m after two weekends.

Rounding out the top five was another Warner Bros romantic comedy- Must Love Dogs -which remained in fifth place; it has grossed $26.3m after two weekends.

Warner Independent Pictures' MarchOf The Penguins reached its highest rankingto date in its seventh weekend on release, climbing four to sixth on $7.1m fora mighty $26.4m cumulative total.

Sony's military action picture Stealth fell three to seventh in its secondweekend on $5.8m for $24.5m.

Fox's Fantastic Four ranks eighth in its fifth weekend on $143.8m, Paramount's WarOf The Worlds rankedninth in its sixth weekend on $224.6m, and DreamWorks' The Island is 10th on $30.9m after three weekends.

Next weekend's wide releases are Sony's comedy Deuce Bigalow:European Gigolo starringRob Schneider; Paramount's revenge drama Four Brothers starring Mark Wahlberg; and Universal'sGothic mystery Skeleton Key, which stars Kate Hudson and Gena Rowlands.
