The Dutch Film Festival (25 September - 4 October in Utrecht) will have fewer awards - the traditional Golden Calves - for this year's edition. The new director, Doreen Boonekamp, has cut the two prizes for best actor and actress in the television-drama-section.
The number of films in competition will also be much less, compared to last year. A new special jury will make a pre-selection of the features, documentaries, shorts and TV titles that will be judged for the awards.
Last year the festival needed three separate juries to judge all the entries. This year, working with a shortlist, the festival needs only one seven-member-jury, which will view some 60 hours of competing material from all sections.
