The Academy has received 18 animated feature submissions including Tintin and The Smurfs.

Several of the films listed have not yet had their required Los Angeles qualifying runs and each submission must satisfy the theatrical distribution criteria before it can advance to the voting stage.
At least eight eligible features must be theatrically released in Los Angeles County within the calendar year for the animation category to be activated.
The 84th Academy Awards nominations will be announced on Jan 24, 2012 and the awards will be unveiled on Feb 26.
