Announced during the inaugural ScreenSingapore event, Hong Kong-based Emperor Motion Pictures and Clover Films have closed a four-film deal for Singapore.

The Emperor-Clover deal covers Dante Lam’s The Viral Factor, Derek Yee’s The Great Magician, Lu Chuan’s The Last Supper and Heiward Mak’s Diva.

Clover Films will handle the theatrical, video and free-to-air TV distribution rights for these titles in Singapore.

“This is an important package for us in terms of Chinese film,” said Lim Teck, Clover Films managing director.

“These films feature some of Asia’s brightest stars in Jay Chou, Nicholas Tse, Tony Leung, Zhou Xun, Daniel Wu, Chang Chen, Liu Ye and Joey Yung, and we are very confident of delivering great results in Singapore. We thank [Emperor’s] Mr Albert Lee, Ms May Yip and her team for their trust in our young company and we will strive to justify their faith in us,” he added.

“We at Emperor believe we have a very strong line-up to replicate the success we had this year with Shaolin. We have long known Lim Teck and believe that he and his team will deliver.” said Albert Lee, Emperor Motion Pictures CEO.

Clover Films stated the Great Magician, starring Tony Leung, Zhou Xun and Lau Ching-wan is slated for release in late 2011, with the remaining films to be released in 2012. “Largely, all will be day-and-date releases,” said Teck of these Singapore release dates.
