The producers of Doris Doerrie comedy Enlightenment Guaranteed and Peter Schamoni's documentary Majestat Brauchen Sonne shared the DM500,000 ($260,000) producer prize at the Bavarian Film Awards (Jan 17).
Rolf Schuebel's Gloomy Sunday came away with honours for best direction and best cinematography while Romuald Karmakar and Bodo Kirchoff received the best script prize for Manila. Acting awards went to Uwe Ochsenknecht for Enlightenment Guaranteed, Martina Gedeck for Green Desert, Gottfried John for Asterix & Obelix and Marita Marschall for Fussball Ist Unser Leben.
This year's newcomer prizes were presented to director Veit Helmer for his feature debut Tuvalu and actor Florian Lukas for his performances in Gigantic and St Pauli Nacht. Finally, Munich-based producers Thomas Haeberle and Christian Becker were named the winners of the collection society VGF's DM100,000 ($52,000) Producers Prize for their production of Bang Boom Bang.
