Lara Thompson has been promoted to the newly created role of evp of filmed entertainment at Entertainment One, effective immediately.

Thompson previously served as svp of worldwide acquisitions and will focus on expanding the company’s filmed entertainment divisions worldwide.

Key to the strategy is the acquisition of titles and their exploitation across multiple territories through strong filmmaker, distributor and sales agency relations.

Thompson will continue to oversee the company’s worldwide film acquisition operations.

“This is certainly an exciting opportunity,” Thompson said. “I’m looking forward to diving even deeper into the international film community, developing new partnerships and accessing premium titles at the earliest possible stage in the game for our global pipeline.”

Prior to joining eOne in 2008 she was svp of worldwide acquisitions at Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group. She has worked at Momentum Pictures and Working Title.

“I’ve had the privilege of working with Lara for many years and I am thrilled to announce her promotion,” president of filmed entertainment Patrice Théroux said. “The force of our film businesses has been greatly strengthened by Lara’s significant contributions over the past four years.”

Thompson will continue to report to Théroux and will operate from eOne’s LA office.
