Jere Hausfater's Essential Entertainment has acquired worldwide sales rights from Scott Steindorff's Stone Village Pictures to the upcoming horror spoof Stan Helsing.

The story is set on Halloween night when the eponymous reluctant hero and video shop clerk must save his town from the six most feared monsters in cinematic history.

Writer-director Bo Zenga is familiar with the territory having previously served as executive producer on Dimension Films' horror spoof Scary Movie and as producer with Steindorff on Turistas.

Hausfater is introducing the project to buyers as part of a diverse slate that includes Fireflies In The Garden with Julia Roberts, which screens out of competition here, as well as Clive Barker's Book Of Blood, Brett Easton Ellis adaptation The Informers and Solomon Kane.

'Stan Helsing is typical of a genre that's constantly commercially successful,' Hausfater said. 'This is evidenced by the comedy spoof Meet The Spartans recently taking the number one spot at the box office in the US. We're eager to see buyer responses to this project during the EFM.'
