The 51st Krakow Film Festival (May 23-29) has unveiled the 35 selections for its national competition.

For the first year, feature documentaries will be included in the competition and the awards, the Golden Hobby Horse.

Three of the documentaries will also participate in the international competition: The Doctors by Tomasz Wolski; Phnom Penh Lullaby by Paweł Kloc; and Argentinian Lesson by Wojciech Staroń.

Polish documentarian Marcl Lozinski will present his new film Tonia and Her Children. KFF director Krzysztof Gierat said: “This year we will have the opportunity not only to thank him for his regular presence at the Festival, but also to congratulate him on his birthday, a round anniversary coming up. It was after a nomination at our Festival that his Poste Restante was awarded with the European Film Award.”

This year’s festival will have a special focus on Dutch cinema, a selection of music films, and a retrospective devoted to Wojciech Wiszniewski. The Dragon of Dragons award will go to animation expert Piotr Kamler.

Jurors will include Tue Steen Muller, Marcin Koszalka, Kaleo La Belle, Anna Kazejak-Dawid, and Tadeusz Słobodzianek

The awards pool totals more than $70,000.
