UK film support body The Film Council has appointed Vincent Holden as production finance controller.

Holden, who takes up the position from September 4, was previously head of finance at George Faber's UK production outfit Company Television. Part of Holden's brief is to analyse investments made through the Council's National Lottery funds for production and development to ensure they fit the body's strategy.

He will also provide the fund managers with production finance support, as well as taking on similar responsibility for the body's activities in UK distribution.

The appointment follows the Council's announcement last month that Susan Finlayson-Sitch will head the British Film Office in Los Angeles from September.
