Film Movement has taken US rights from The Works to Shane Meadows' comedy Somers Town and will release in theatres in July.

Thomas Turgoose, the breakout star of Meadow's 2006 drama This Is England, and Piotr Jagiello play a pair of teenager newcomers in London who become firm friends one hot summer.

Somers Town was nominated in the 2008 British Independent Film Awards for best British film, best director, best actor for Turgoose and best screenplay for Paul Fraser.

Film Movement president Adley Gartenstein and vice president of acquisitions and distribution Rebeca Conget, brokered the deal with Joy Wong of The Works.

'We have been big fans of Shane Meadows for a long time, and we couldn't be more excited to have acquired his latest feature, Somers Town,' Gartenstein said. 'We are sure that American audiences will fall in love with this sweet and funny film, and we are eager to share it with them.'
