Spanish mini-studio Filmax has picked up international rights to local flamencobiopic Camaronto add to its Cannes slate.

Camaron: When Flamenco Became Legend, from veteran director Jaime Chavarri,earned lead actor Oscar Jaenada rave reviews and a bestnew actor Goya for his performance as the troubled flamenco innovator Jose Monge Cruz, known as Camaron dela Isla.

Thetitle joins thecompany's full slate, headlined by the newly unveiled English-language thrillerfrom The Machinist's Brad Anderson, TransSiberian, now casting for aplanned October shoot.

Filmax is also selling two newly completed English-languagethrillers: The Backwoods, starringGary Oldman, Paddy Considineand Virginie Ledoyen; andMajorca-set The KovakBox starring Timothy Hutton.

Also on Filmax'sslate is Spanish-Italian dynasty epic TheBorgias, in post-production; and a trio ofanimated features including night-time fantasy tale Nocturna, Don Quixote riff Donkey Xote,and Argentinean co-production The HairyTooth Fairy.
