Rome-based sales and production group FilmExport recently embarked on its first co-production The Thirteen Roses, with Spanish companies Enrique Cerezo PC and Pedro Costa PC, and is now planning further co-productions.

Upcoming titles include Dudu - A Friend To Save, a $10 million English-language
family drama about a panda which will shoot in China and Italy. It is being
set up as a French-German-China-Italian co-production and will include live action and animation.

The Thirteen Roses, being introduced to buyers at the AFM, has proved a runaway success in Spain, reaching $2.5m since its release in mid-October. The film, directed by Emilio Martinez Lazaro, starring Pilar Lopez de Ayala, Veronica Sanchez, Marta Etura, and Gabriella Pession. Set in Madrid in 1939, the film follows the struggles of a group of women who fall foul of the Franco regime.

Also at the AFM. FilmExport is also looking for buyers to board animated feature Noah's Ark, directed by Juan Pablo Buscarini and produced by Patagonik. Certain territories have already gone on the film, including Vox (Russia) and Buena Vista (Argentina).

Other titles being pushed by the Italian company include Dolores Payas' Like It Hot' starring Victoria Abril, and Claudio Antonini's The Ball starring Laura Morante.
