Spain's Sogepac has sold all US and Canadian rights onits quirky comedy Torremolinos 73 toFirst Run Features.

The movie, which swept the boards at the Malaga FilmFestival last year and went on to take Euros 1.8m locally, has been dubbed the"Spanish Boogie Nights".

The deal with First Run follows a slew of new sales to theUK (Tartan), Italy (Buskin Film), France (Epicentre), Greece (PCV), Turkey(Barbar Film), former Yugoslavian territories (AG Market), Puerto Rico (WiesnerDistribution) and China (Young Asia Org.)

Starring Javier Camara (Talk to Her), Torremolinos 73 tells the story of an encyclopaedia salesman inFranco's puritanical Spain who, along with his wife, starts to makeamateur porn films. It had previously sold to Israel, Hungary and across LatinAmerica. Directed by first-timer Pablo Berger, it was produced by Telespan 2000and Tele Cinco's film arm Estudios Picasso along with Danish producerNimbus.

The deal was negotiated by Seymour Wishman, president ofFirst Run Features and Simon de Santiago, Deputy Director of Distribution atSogepac, a Sogecable company.
