A string of internationalproduction outfits have come together to finance the next film by Mexicandirector Paul Leduc (Frida, Naturaleza Viva)

ElCobrador - In God We Trust, which stars Peter Fonda, isproduced by veteran Mexican producer Berta Navarro (Cronos, The Devil'sBackbone, Cronicas) through her Salamandra Productions outfit.

It is backed by Pedro andAgustin Almodovar's El Deseo, Brazil's Morena Film, the UK's Lumina Films,Argentina's Arca Difusion and Mexico's Imcine. The $2.5m film is also funded bythe French FondSud and the Ibermedia Film Funds.

Shooting starts on March 26for eight weeks in Mexico City. Other locations include Bel Horizonte inBrazil, Buenos Aires and New York.

A number of high profileLatin American actors star in the film, including Brazilian Lazaro Ramos (MadameSata) in the title role, Milto Goncalves, Argentinian Anonela Acosta (GarageOlimpo) and Mexicans Vanesa Bauche, Maya Zapata, Ana Ofelia Murguia andJesus Ochoa.

ElCobrador is described by Navarro as "a portrait of social wrathand injustice where violence generates violence, featuring a social mindedavenger."

International sales arehandled by Lumina.

Navaro reteams with formerhusband Leduc for the first time since their 1973 collaboration on Reed.

Meanwhile, Navarro's otherproduction outfit, Tequila Gang, run with Guillermo del Toro, is cranking up Pan'sLabyrinth.

Currently inpre-production, the film is set during the fascist era in Spain and stars Catalan actor Sergi Lopez. Shooting is setto start in Galicia in Spain in June.
