EXCLUSIVE: Fortitude International has struck a deal with Robbie Brenner’s Relativity Squared (R2) to launch sales at EFM on DJ Caruso’s The Tribes Of Palos Verdes.
The move allows Fortitude to tap into a vein of potential awards contenders as Brenner set up the Relativity-owned specialty label to produce prestige titles.
Fortitude co-founders Nadine de Barros, Robert Ogden Barnum and Daniel Wagner are exploring ways of collaborating with Brenner on future titles produced by R2.
Matt Dillon has joined Jennifer Garner and Maika Monroe on The Tribes Of Palos Verdes, about a teenager and her brother who move with their family to an affluent California beach community where the girl takes up surfing to escape their troubled home life.
The story is based on the debut novel by Joy Nicholson and R2 will distribute the drama in the US.
“It is truly exciting to partner with Brenner and her team at Relativity as we seek to expand our slate, consistently striving to deliver high-quality, filmmaker-driven stories with a strong cast to our international buyers,” said de Barros, Barnum and Wagner.
“The Tribes Of Palos Verdes is the perfect blend of these elements and a wonderful start to what promises to be a fruitful relationship with R2.”
“We are excited to establish a new partnership with Fortitude International for international sales for The Tribes Of Palos Verdes,” said Brenner.
“This film is one of the first from our new R2 specialty division, where we will help nurture and share powerful films made by emerging and acclaimed film-makers that tell unique stories.”
