Fox International has snapped up Latin American rights to Jorge Hernandez Aldana's drama The Night Buffalo, one of the most anticipated films set to receive its world premiere at Sundance later this month.

The distributor plans an April release on the film, which Guillermo Arriaga adapted from his own novel about a love triangle between three young adults that has devastating consequences.

Diego Luna, Liz Gallardo and Gabriel Gonzalez star and Arriaga produced with Enrique Lopez serving as executive producer.

'It's a privilege to be handling this unique film that will blow people's minds,' Fox Latin America's senior vice president Eduardo Echeverria said.

'Guillermo was able to put together an extraordinary production with a very promising new director, great young actors including Diego Luna and a very powerful story'.

'When I decided to produce The Night Buffalo, the word I wanted to guide the process of writing was 'risk',' Arriaga said, adding later: 'I'm extremely proud of this film. It has the blood and guts of all of us.'
