Capitalising on a shrewd territorial pick-up, Fox International released The Lord Of TheRings: The Return Of The King in Taiwan on 218 screens at the weekend for a record $3.6mindustry opening there.

Elsewhere for Fox International, Master And Commander grossed $3.6m from 2,294 screens in 37 territoriesto raise its international running total to $50.8m.

This amount excludes Italy, where the adventure film isdistributed through UIP and grossed $1.6m at the weekend.

In Australia, Master And Commander added $1m from 301 screens in its thirdweekend for a $5.9m cumulative score.
