In addition to Fox Searchlight's apocalyptic thriller 28 Days Later taking the UK box office by storm, the company enjoyed a number of other successes over the weekend
Fox scored the highest ever debut for a Pedro Almodovar picture in Brazil, opening Talk To Her (Hable Con Ella) on 65 screens for $159,000. The action picture The Transporter enjoyed a solid bow in Australia, its third market worldwide, registering $285,000 from 131 screens. The picture, which stars Jason Statham, is due to roll out internationally over the next few weeks.
Minority Report added just under $4m over the weekend for a $171m cumulative total. That figure is likely to increase substantially on Dec 7 when the sci-fi thriller opens in Japan, where star Tom Cruise and director Steven Spielberg enjoy a massive following.
One Hour Photo continued to play solidly in the international arena, grossing $413,000 from 221 screens in all territories for a $12.9m running total. Road To Perdition took $983,000 in total from 909 screens for a $58.9m international cumulative score.
