Howard AAnderson Jr, who created visual effects for hundreds of films including SomeLike It Hot, Heaven Can Wait and Blazing Saddles, will receive the American Society of Cinematographers PresidentsAward.

The honour ispresented each year to an individual who has made extraordinary contributionsto advancing the art of film-making.

Anderson willcollect his award at the 18th Annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards on Feb8 2004 in Los Angeles.

"Howard Andersonis a dedicated, passionate film-maker who exemplifies the ASC principals ofartistry, loyalty and progress," awards committee head Owen Roizman said in astatement.

"He has consistently established high standards forinnovation and creativity in important sectors of our industry."

Anderson workedas an optical camera operator for his father's company in Hollywood in the late1940s and went on to create visual effects for I Love Lucy, among others. He earned an Oscarnomination in 1968 for his work on Tobruk.
