German DVD company e-m-s new media has acquired East European rights to 73 feature films as another step in the internationalisation of its

activities.

The package covers all stages of the rights chain from theatrical release through TV to home entertainment.

The package of mainly US titles, which was acquired by CEO Werner Wirsing and complements the West European rights e-m-s already holds, comprises mostly action films, 'not blockbusters, but films which can be marketed very profitably because of their modest purchase price", said investor relations manager Michael Westerhoff.

e-m-s, which now has film holdings with more than 1,000 titles, has been working with Advanced Medien in the home entertainment sector over the last two years and acquired 24.7% of Advanced at the end of 2000.
