Cologne-basedlicense trader Splendid Film is to revive the theatrical arm Splendid Filmverleih to handle the releases of its own films inGerman cinemas.

Responsibilityfor Splendid's theatrical releases will be assumed bydistribution veteran Veronika Morawetzwho will continue managing her own independent distribution outfit Stardust Filmverleih at the same time.

Splendid's first new release will be the Calista Flockhart horror thrillerFragile on November 9, followed onNovember 30 by Christopher Smith's horror comedy Severance which will be the closing film at this year's Fantasy Filmfest in Germany. A third title - An American Haunting, starring Sissy Spacek and Donald Sutherland - is slated to open in Germancinemas on December 21.

Splendid's release slate for 2007 includes such films asthe Weinstein Company-produced Fast Trackwith Zach Braff and Amanda Peet.
