Paul Giamatti is lining up a possible lead role as Philip K Dick in a biopic of the influential sci-fi writer whose novels havespawned such adaptations as Blade Runner, Total Recall, and thecurrent release A Scanner Darkly.
Giamatti will produce through his newly formed Touchy Feely Films incollaboration with Anonymous Content's Steve Golin and Lenny Bekerman.
The film will interweave aspects of Dick's life with his fiction, and willincorporate elements of his last unfinished novel, The Owl In Daylight.
The Philip K Dick Estate (Isa Dick Hackett) is also producing through itsElectric Shepherd Productions (ESP). Jason Kornick will serve as executiveproducer.
Tony Grisoni, who wrote Brothers Of The Head and Fear And Loathing In LasVegas, is attached to write the screenplay.
Anonymous Content's credits include the upcoming drama Babel starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett and iscurrently in production on Marriagestarring Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper, Patricia Clark, and Rachel McAdams, and Case39, which stars Renee Zellweger.
Michael Siegel, who represents the Dick Estate and ESP, helped negotiate thedeal.
