Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired US rights to Rachel Samuels' stage adaptation Dark Streets, which won a special jury prize at CineVegas earlier this year.

Gabriel Mann, Bijou Phillips, Izabella Miko, Elias Koteas and Toledo star in the tale of a 1930s playboy and nightclub owner caught in a love triangle whose life begins to spiral out of control.

Glenn M Stewart, Claus Clausen, Andrea Balen and Corina Danckwerts produced the film, based on Stewart's play The City Club that premiered at the 2004 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The distributor plans a fourth quarter release. Vice president of acquisitions Peter Goldwyn brokered the deal with The Collective's and Shaun Redick.

The producers will donate 50% of the film's profits to The Blues Initiative, a charity that supports cultural revival in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricanes Gustav and Katrina.
