Gong Li hasjoined Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx in the cast of Michael Mann's upcoming MiamiVice project forUniversal Pictures.

The Chinesestar, whose credits include a handful of Zhang Yimou classics, Farewell My Concubine, 2046 and the upcoming Memoirs Of A Geisha, will play Isabella, the Chinese-Cubanwife of an international crime syndicate boss.

As previouslyannounced, Farrell will play Detective James "Sonny" Crockett while Foxx starsas Detective Ricardo Tubbs in the adaptation of the hit 1980s crime series, onwhich Mann served as executive producer.

Universal's vicechairman of worldwide production Scott Stuber and vice president of productionJeff Kirschenbaum are overseeing production for the studio.

The picture willbe set in Miami and South America and is currently in pre-production. It hasalready been scheduled for a Jul 28 2006 North American release.

"Gong Li is oneof the world's finest actresses and a great lady," Mann said in a statement. "Ihave wanted to work with her since I saw Raise The Red Lantern."

Mann's Forward Pass is producing the feature adaptationand Miami Vice television series creatorAnthony Yerkovich will serve as executive producer.

Gong is represented by ICM and manager Christopher Tseng.
