Universal Pictures hasacquired worldwide distribution rights to the musical biopic Unchain MyHeart: The Ray Charles Storystarring Jamie Foxx and has scheduled an Oct 29 domestic release.

Produced and financed byPhilip Anschutz's Crusader Entertainment, Unchain My Heart: The Ray CharlesStory charts the legendary singer'slife from the time he went blind as a child after witnessing his brother'saccidental death through his early career as a touring performer in theSouthern states to international superstardom.

Foxx, whose credits include Ali,Any Given Sunday and the upcomingthriller Collateral, is supportedby Kerry Washington (Against The Ropes) and Regina King (Daddy Day Care).

Director Taylor Hackfordserved as producer with Stuart Benjamin and Crusader's Howard Baldwin and KarenBaldwin.

Meanwhile Universal has setthe first release from its new two year domestic distribution deal with GoldCircle Films. White Noise, whichUIP will distribute in certain international territories, has been scheduledfor a fourth quarter 2004 or first quarter 2005 release. Starring MichaelKeaton and Deborah Kara Unger, the paranormal thriller centres on thephenomenon of EVP or electronic voice phenomenon, which enables contact withthe dead through static transmissions.

The project was written byNiall Johnson and directed by Geoffrey Sax, with Gold Circle's Paul Brooks andShawn Williamson serving as producers and Simon Brooks and Stephen Hegyes onboard as executive producers.
