Hans Christian Schmid (the award-winning director of Requiem) is to start shooting a new, as-yet-untitled political drama in July.

The $9m project starring Kerry Fox tells the story of Hannah Maynard, a prosecutor at The Tribunal in The Hague who manages to convince a young Bosnian woman to testify against an alleged war criminal.

TrustNordisk is handling international sales on the film, which is produced by 23/5 Films (the company run by Hans-Christian Schmid and Britta Knöller) and Zentropa International Berlin (run by Maria Köpf).

It is co-produced with Denmark (Zentropa Entertainments5) and with The Netherlands (Zentropa International Netherlands and IDTV Films). The project is also a co-production with Zentropa International Koln, Germany. A-Film has taken Benelux rights. Pifflmedien distributes in Germany.

Shooting locations are Germany, The Netherlands, and Bosnia.

The project is still in final stage of financing. The list of financiers already aboard include Filmstiftung NRW, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Filmförderungsanstalt Berlin, BKM, DFFF, The Danish Film Institute, The Dutch Film Fund, Eurimages, A Film, and German broadcasters SWR, ARTE, WDR and BR.
