The Haunted Mansion scored an impressive bow in Japan through BuenaVista International (BVI) at the weekend, opening top on $4.7m and breaking astring of records in the process.
It was the Walt DisneyCompany's second biggest live action branded bow ever behind Pirates Of TheCaribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl in local currency and the biggest ever in US dollars. The picture wasalso BVI's eighth biggest release ever in Japan.
Overall The HauntedMansion grossed $5.4m at theweekend, elevating its international running total to $78.3m.
After five consecutive weeksat the top in Germany, Brother Bearwas knocked off its perch by BVI stablemate Kill Bill Vol 2 (see separate Kill Bill Vol 2 story) and Columbia TriStar's 50 First Dates.
The animated hit added $529,000for a $16.4m running total in Germany. Over the entire weekend the picturegrossed $1.4m from all its markets to raise its running total to $159.2m.
